As for the 1st quarter 2013 out of new lease purchases most popular was car leasing – this makes 39 per cent or 33.78 million lats from contracts in the first 3 months, shows summary data from Latvian leasing association.

Next most popular are equipment leasing – 23.97 million lats or 28% of new purchase portfolio, and commercial transport leasing – 23.45 million lats or 27%. The smallest part of new purchases take real estate leasing – 1.55 million lats or 1.8%.

„The data for the first quarter is no surprise, but proof that there is noticeable stability in the market after the decrease during crises period, especially in industrial leasing area. The increase in the industrial sector shows that companies resume their production, which ensures government growth tendencies.” says the association’s CEO director Jevgenijs Belezjaks.

Overall, in the end of March leasing and factoring portfolio reached 857.7 million lats. In comparison with the end of 2012, total leasing and factoring portfolio slightly decreased – by 1.6 per cent.

Financial and operating leasing make the most or 791.6 million lats of the portfolio: financial leasing portfolio is 654.9 million lats or 83 per cent out of the total number, operating leasing portfolio is 136.7 million lats or 17 per cent. The total factoring portfolio as of the end of the first quarter was 66.1 million lats.

Latvian Leasing Association was founded in 2000 and it includes voluntarily joined nine biggest Latvian leasing companies. The members of the association are SIA "UniCredit Leasing", SIA „Swedbank Līzings”, SIA "Nordea Finance Latvia", SIA "SEB līzings", SIA „Pohjola Finance”, SIA „PrivatLīzings”, SIA „DNB Līzings”, SIA "Citadele līzings un faktorings" un „LKB Līzings”. Total leasing and factoring portfolio in 2012 was 871 million lats.

The association ensures leasing companies’ interests, provides regular statistics summaries about Latvian leasing operation indicator, analysing and concluding about market tendencies both in general and separately as well as taking care of its availability for Latvian society.
